Some parts of North America are getting whopping winter wallops never before experienced. Texas reached several record-setting low temperatures and snowfall. Another system is on the way, promising up to 21 cm of snow and ice, with freezing rain following through the night. When the last system hit, weather stations predicted up to 20 cm of snow and we ended up with 36 cm! Not that any number of snowstorms surprises us Canadians. It’s just a part of winter. For those who aren’t used to winter weather, here are a few tips to help you stay FABULOUS during winter.
9. Stay warm. Keep you home well heated if you don’t like the cooler temperatures. More importantly, dress warmly! Especially when it gets windy, the cold can seep right through your clothes, so an extra layer of leggings or tights and an undershirt help by adding a layer of clothing that retains heat better. Don’t forget a warm pair of socks. You can also look FABULOUS with the right accessories: gloves, scarf, hat, earmuffs–whatever suits you and gives you that touch of style on top of staying warm.

10. Stay home. It’s common sense: when a bad storm hits, the best place to be is home.
11. Drive slowly and carefully. Driving in winter can be tricky if you aren’t use to it. The best rule of the road is to drive slower than you normally would and keep a safe distance from the vehicle in front of you. That way, you are ready for anything that might happen. Statistics show that more road accidents happen in winter conditions, and even more in winter form conditions. The risks you take by driving fast include skidding on ice or wet snow which make even the best winter tires lose traction; low visibility due to heavy snow or blowing snow; and losing your direction in cases of a whiteout, which could result in your driving into a ditch, a snowbank, or the opposite lane. Be a FABULOUS winter driver and arrive safe whenever you must drive.

Remember these tips and you’ll have a FABULOUSLY safe and warm winter. Until the next post, stay FABULOUS!
